About Kumba

The Story of Kumba the Dog

In 1993 our family decided to visit the Seminole County Animal Shelter to find our first family dog.  There were many beautiful puppies and dogs, but in our family's mind there was no question who was going to be joining our family that day.  She was a sickly little white dog with black spots and a huge tummy and belly button sticking out.  After lots of love and quite a few vet visits, we nursed the poor pound puppy back to health and gave her the name Kumba, which literally translates to belly button.

Kumba lived a long and happy life with us, and came to be an example of many of the good things we wanted in our own lives.  She was loving, noble, and above all a friend you could trust to be there whenever you needed.  We wanted our property management company to live up to those same high ideals and could think of no better way to remind ourselves every day of this mission than to name the company after our mascot and friend, Kumba.

But What Does Kumba Mean?

It literally translates to belly button in the Arawak Indian Dialect spoken by Mr. Kumba Realty, Carlo Gongage.

Yes, we know that makes it a funny name for a property management company, but honestly it did (and still does) sound like a great name.  It also serves to remind us every day that we went into this hoping to be the best and most trust worthy property management company anyone could do business with.
